It’s been an incredible ride so far. The big ones keep biting, the lodge count for Tyee is at 22 landed and a great deal lost at sea. Every group has had that magic moment where things just couldn’t get any better on the water, hard feeding non stop big fish action. So far the most consistent catches have been up at Wall Island, but the big ones keep getting caught at #1(South End of Hicks Island). A few of the boys have been grinding there day after day and the pay off is usually a Tyee or two every trip so far. #7 has also been a big fish spot as well, putting up its share of hogs. Kettle Inlet has been great for sheer quantity fishing as well for teenager up to early 20 pound Chinook. Coho fishing remains pretty strong up at #13, a 1 to 1 ratio with the Chinook and averaging a respectable 4-6 pounds. Trolling anchovy or smaller spoons with a green glow pattern behind various flashers(White, Green, Black) has been the most productive this week. Seems like the fish are getting down there as well, not uncommon to be trolling at 77 feet. Halibut fishing has picked up in the area, Chicken Ranch is great for the 10-15 pound unders, and the bigger guys are still being caught down at RusseL Banks. Cliffe Rock has been going mad with big lings, great times and relatively easy to get your limit of 12-25 pound fish.
